Big-Tex Hay Essential is a hay preservative developed specifically for Protexia to provide effective protection against mold, heating, and spoilage while using significantly less acid.
Instead of depending on high levels of propionic acid, Hay Essential combines a low amount of propionic acid with food-grade preservatives, beneficial antioxidants, and other ingredients commonly found in animal feeds. The formula coats the hay, helping manage moisture and protect its quality as it goes into storage.
With its less-acidic formulation, Hay Essential is designed to support palatability and digestibility while still giving producers the freedom to safely bale hay at moisture levels up to 26%.
It can be used across all types of hay and is safe for hay being fed to all classes of livestock.

Designed for producers who want to push their baling window even further, Hay Max Plus+ allows you to bale super-dense hay at moisture levels up to 28% when properly applied.

Big-Tex Dry Granular Hay Preservative gives you a simple way to bale higher-moisture hay without the tanks, pumps, or handling of liquid preservatives.
Formulated with 30% calcium, it helps protect hay from heating, mold, and spoilage while extending your baling window — allowing you to safely bale at moisture levels up to 30% when applied at the proper rate.
Use on small square, round, and large square bales, with application rates adjusted based on bale type and moisture level. It can also be mixed 1:1 with salt for more uniform distribution.
